Why is Sedona in the transportation business, we are NOT Phoenix.
Why did we not contract our local transportation companies for trailhead shuttle service? The city likes to hurt local businesses. No excuse. They were willing to bid.
Bus service is NOT a state requirement, especially for a rural town of 9700 people. Why are we providing rides for $1 to $2 taking money from LYFT and UBER drivers, OUR residents.
This is a perfect example of why NO on HOME RULE is applicable. Sedona City Council and Staff have NOT hit a Capital Project budget....since... we can't remember.
They do not know how to issue a contract, and keep using the same staff people and contractors. Forest Road Extension, Council Approved estimate, $2.772 million, cost, $18.2 million, 650% over. Eminent domain settlements, terrain (gee they built it on the side of a mountain), and STILL have an outstanding lawsuit.
Uptown Garage, Council approved $17,5 million, final cost...maybe, $26 Million. Net REDUCTION of Uptown parking spots. Oh, they didn't mention that?
Uptown, added roundabouts, median, fencing in the center, $2.8 Million. Ruined northbound traffic flow OUT of SEDONA.
City is securing $5.4 million for a Brewer/Ranger road roundabout wiping out the businesses in that area... because they say they care about the locals? Right.
$914,278 in Upton to create a "zipper lane" that does not work and backs up traffic on SR179.
A council and staff with TOO much money, little talent and forethought, and bad engineering advice from staff and contractors.

HOME RULE - Too much money for staff and Council to be responsible stewards for our City.
Bad contracts, overspending, ridiculous decisions, law suits, high taxes, no respect for local businesses.
Buckle up for another 4 years of the same irresponsible city government.
